The remastered edition of Nuevos Horizontes by Horizonte Lied is more than a simple update of old tracks. It marks a meaningful end to a complex chapter in the band’s identity. This EP, recorded entirely at Alex Ezert’s Studios M-13 in Monterrey, Mexico, reflects years of evolution, technical challenges, and artistic growth. For fans of dark pop and electronic music, this release offers a fresh experience that blends nostalgia with innovation.

Horizonte Lied’s story began in 1992 when Alex Ezert and Bernardo Garza met in high school. Their early work included Depeche Mode covers and original demos, which laid the foundation for their sound. By 2001, they had released albums, establishing themselves in the electronic music scene. After several breaks, the band returned with Wishing to be There in 2018 and continued their project with remastered tracks like El Dia Despues.
The album dives deep into themes of skepticism, self-reflection, and closure. For example:
"Tu Enigma" explores doubt and challenges old beliefs, inviting listeners to question what they once accepted.
"Punto Crucial" deals with self-deception but ends on an optimistic note, suggesting growth and acceptance.
"Romper una Era" is an experimental track that serves as a meditative farewell to internal conflicts, embodying the band's idea that revealing time’s illusions makes breaking with the past easier.
Musically, the EP blends dark pop with electronic elements, creating a moody yet engaging atmosphere. The remastered tracks have been substantially revamped, with new layers and textures that enhance the emotional impact. This hybrid approach respects the original spirit while pushing the sound into fresh territory.
Nuevos Horizontes offers a unique listening experience. It captures the tension between past and present, combining melancholic melodies with electronic beats. The band’s use of synthesisers and rhythmic programming reflects their long history with electronic music, while the lyrical content adds depth and introspection.
The EP also highlights the value of revisiting and reworking older material. Instead of simply polishing old songs, Horizonte Lied transformed them into something new, showing how music can evolve alongside the artists’ own journeys.
Nuevos Horizontes closes a significant chapter for Horizonte Lied but also points toward the future. As the second-to-last release in their Remasters Finales series, it sets the stage for the final installment. Fans can expect more thoughtful reinterpretations and a continued exploration of dark pop and electronic sounds.
